Enjoyed a fun dinner fundraiser Friday night for an awesome cause at Central Lutheran Church in North Tacoma (near Stadium High School) for Luke Beardemphl. I am so glad our family went to support Luke and his family. Even though we do not know him, he is an inspiration to us. The photo below is two of our boys watching the slideshow of Luke before dinner started.
Luke is an amazing 22 year old Highline CC student who has courageously been battling lymphoma for the past 4 years. Luke graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma, WA in June, 2008 and planned to attend the University of Hawaii on a partial soccer scholarship. Everything changed in July of 2008, when at age 17, Luke was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Luke has undergone years of chemo, radiation and just underwent his 3rd stem cell procedure. Luke will be in Seattle for 100 days with his mom, Stephanie so they can be close to the hospital. The many years of battling the disease has taken a toll on his body and the family’s financial situation but never broken their spirit. They remain extremely positive and confident that Luke will beat this disease.
Great job to my friends Mark and Heather Redal for putting the whole event together and raising $7000 for the Beardemphl family!!
