Happy Mother’s Day to all the “Good Enough” Moms!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the women that have the toughest job in the world…Motherhood!

But, my Mother’s Day post is not about how tough Motherhood is. This post is about YOU. I want to tell you that you are a “Good Enough Mom!” What is a Good Enough Mom you ask? A Good Enough Mom is a Mom that loves her children more than all the stars in the sky. A Good Enough Mom works hard outside (and inside!) the home for her family, comes home to make dinner…which might be cereal sometimes, read stories and play on the floor. You try your best to take the time your children need from you and you take time for yourself when you need it to recharge your batteries. A Good Enough Mom communicates to her children and husband. You are not perfect and never will be. You will fail sometimes as a Mother. We all do. But you get up each day ready to take on the world and strive to be your best self! Please don’t compare your work situation, your body, your house or your schedules with other Mom’s. The grass is always greener (or browner!) on the other side of the fence. Make the best of your situation and make it Good Enough. I am proud to say I have so many friends that are great Moms and such wonderful examples of what it means to be a Good Enough Mom.

Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom, my Mother-In-Law, my Sister and friends! You are all such an inspiration to me to be my best self. Take time to enjoy your family on this Mother’s Day and don’t worry about being perfect. Being yourself is “Good Enough.”

I love this post. It reminds me of my oldest’s son nurse practitioner that he saw for all of his well-check visits. Every time I left, she made sure to look me in the eye, maybe even touch my arm, and say “you’re doing a great job,” It brought me to tears nearly every time because I totally felt like I was NOT doing a great job. Heck, not even a good job. Or a fine job. In fact, I felt like I was doing a horrible job. As it turns out, we mothers are our harshest critics and “good enough” done with “more than enough” love is just right.

Christine, Thank you for commenting. I think being a relaxed, good enough Mom is hard to do but worth trying! 🙂
